Ethnomedicinal uses of the Ferns of Shishikoh Valley, District Chitral, Pakistan

The indigenous communities of Shishikoh valley are often using various ferns taxa regularly. current research work was intended for documenting the ethnomedicinal knowledge ferns. A total 18 were recorded that belonged to 9 genera and 6 families being used in treatment different ailments. Pteridaceae leading family with (33.33%), followed by Aspleniaceae 4 (22.22%), Athyriaceae Equisetaceae each 3 (16.67%) Dryopteridaceae Marsileaceae 1 taxon (5.56%). reported as anthelminthic, anti-rheumatic, astringent wound healing agents ailments such asthma, bronchitis, diarrhea, dysentery, gonorrhea, hepatitis, infertility, influenza, kidney disorders, measles, oral ulcer, thrush, pneumonia, pyelonephritis, pharyngitis, scorpion bite, sinusitis, tonsillitis tuberculosis. Ethnomedicinal is a valuable source innovation allopathic, homeopathic herbal drugs fern species may be commercially medicinal purposes through sustainable way. Their proper cultivation awareness about values among local community leads discover new drugs.
